Golden Obsidian

Reflect

Reflect

Truth. Clarity. Protection.

Golden Obsidian is formed when molten lava cools so rapidly there is no time for crystals to grow. The result is volcanic glass — dense, smooth, and ancient. Its golden sheen comes from microscopic gas bubbles and reflective mineral inclusions trapped at the exact moment of formation.

Ancient civilisations used it as a mirror — one of the few surfaces that could show a person their own face. It was carved into tools, weapons, and ritual objects across Mesoamerica, Egypt, and the ancient world. It reflects not just light, but truth.

Metaphysically: protection from negative energy, self-reflection, grounding, solar energy, clarity of thought. Said to bring what is hidden into conscious awareness — to reveal what we’d rather look away from.

A stone for the person who isn’t afraid to look.

Stone

Prehnite

Open

Open

Heal. Receive. Let go.

Prehnite holds a quiet distinction: it was the first mineral ever named after a person. Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, a Dutch military officer, brought specimens from the Cape of Good Hope to Europe in 1774. The name stuck. It is a calcium aluminium silicate, formed in the cavities and veins of igneous rock — found in South Africa, Australia, China, and the USA.

Its colour is its own: pale, translucent green with a glassy inner light. Some specimens carry fine dark inclusions; others are almost perfectly clear. In sunlight, it looks like sea glass that hasn’t forgotten where it came from.

Metaphysically: unconditional love — not the passionate kind, but the quiet, enduring kind that asks nothing back. Healing, peace, release, and the ability to receive as well as give. Often called the stone of the healer, because healers need healing too.

A stone for the person who gives a lot and forgets to receive.

Stone

Sodalite

Still

Still

Calm. Clarity. Inner knowing.

Sodalite is a mineral of depth — dense, heavy for its size, and found most abundantly in the volcanic formations of Brazil, Canada, and Namibia. Its deep blue comes from the presence of lazurite and hauyne. Its characteristic white veining — hackmanite — is unique to each stone. No two beads look exactly the same. No two necklaces either.

It was first scientifically described in 1811 from deposits in Greenland, though it had been worked as a decorative stone for far longer. Its name comes from its high sodium content — not poetic, but honest. The stone makes up for that.

Metaphysically: mental clarity, rational thought, calm, honest communication, inner knowing, intuition. The stone you reach for when your head is louder than your body.

A stone for the person who thinks too much and needs to feel more.

Natural Carnelian

Ignite

Ignite

Move. Create. Burn bright.

Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony — silica coloured by iron oxide — ranging from pale peach to deep burnt orange. Natural, undyed Carnelian shows banding, variation, and gradient that no treated stone can replicate. Its name is thought to derive from the Latin cornum, the cornel cherry — a reference to its warm, ripe colour.

Ancient Egyptians called it “the setting sun” and used it in burial amulets, believing it to carry the soul safely into the afterlife. Mesopotamian warriors wore it for courage. The Romans engraved it into signet rings. Across cultures and centuries, Carnelian was a stone of action, fire, and will.

Metaphysically: courage, creative energy, vitality, motivation, action, confidence. A stone that moves energy rather than holds it — kinetic, warm, forward.

A stone for the person who knows what they want and needs to go get it.

UV

White to Purple

Awareness

Awareness

Protection.

The UV awareness bead is a single photochromic bead threaded into every necklace. In ordinary indoor light, it appears white. Step into direct sunlight — it shifts to purple. Step back inside — it returns to white. The change happens within seconds.

The colour shift is a response to ultraviolet light. The same UV that causes sunburn. The same UV that accelerates skin ageing. It’s there whether you can feel it or not — on overcast days, in the shade, through glass.

What it tells you: UV is present.

What it doesn’t tell you: the UV index, the exact intensity, or how long it’s safe to be in the sun. This is a visual signal, not a measurement device. It does not quantify UV exposure.

What it is not: sun protection. The UV awareness bead does not block, filter, reduce, or absorb UV light in any way. It is not a substitute for sunscreen, protective clothing, or seeking shade.
